Let it snow.
In the winter of 2017, Le Petit Théâtre d'Oka, supported by the Oka Arts and Culture Society, staged the play Noël chez les gens du pays. Composed of young children, the troupe allows them to connect with the theatrical art in a positive and supervised environment. In order to promote the play, several posters in various formats were displayed on the territory of the Municipality of the Laurentians.

Challenges.
The main challenge lies in choosing a visual approach consistent with the actors average age. Le Petit Théâtre d’Oka required a poster that reflects the playfulness without seeming too childish. This balance also needed to take into account the obvious Christmas theme. Moreover, as the play is centered around the action of sharing tales from one generation to another, the visual had to include a reference to a sense of community.
Outcomes.
The holiday-themed poster is inspired by traditional storytelling through a simple style and an emphasis on the principal information. With the help of several graphic elements, it is also distinguished by the absence of green and red. Playfulness is addressed with the Santa icon figure. Small lit up houses reference the traditional evening gathering in Quebec folklore. The visual elements as well as the composition of the poster were produced using Illustrator.
