Les nouvelles nouvelles.
In December 2018, the Oka theater company presented the play Les Nouvelles Nouvelles, in collaboration with Oka's Arts and Culture Society. During the performances, nearly a hundred informative programs were distributed to spectators. Successor of ‘Noel chez les gens du pays’, the play features a film crew unwillingly in front of the camera. Without any preparation, the characters find themselves forced to improvise, leaving the spectators with giggles. The printed program was distributed before the play and provided information on the actors and the show.

Challenges.
Since the play itself was a clever mix of specific and abstract topics, the program had to be represented in a rather vague way to leave the audience's imagination free to explore. The theater also required that the design be simple and effectively communicate the theme with minimal text.

Outcomes.
Rather than replicating the actual scene, I chose an abstract approach that integrated watercolor-like shapes overlaid with a microphone, an obvious reference to the play. The program cover depicts a microphone outline that contrasts with the colored background of various bluish-tinted splashes. This effect was achieved using various brushes on Photoshop. The interior of the program is made up of two sections. On one side is the list of actors and a group photo while the other side displays a short description of the play.
